Will your Work day – 18 May

Dear fellow photographers of Second Life:

About two weeks ago, virtual artist Vanfarel Kupfer died. Had he not left copies of most of his work (no trans, no mod) with his virtual girl friend, Native Aeon, his only legacy would be what is currently rezzed today.

Avatars in Second Life devote thousands of hours to creating content, and all that work is LOST when they die. Yes, even if they backed up that work by giving it to an alt. Even if they gave their account password to someone. When you die and unless you have taken appropriate measures, no one, not even Linden Lab, can legally access your work. It is simply lost forever.

I have been in communication with Linden Lab regarding the correct procedure for “willing” one’s artwork – or for that matter, any assets – in SL. Legally, the correct and ONLY procedure boils down to this: support.secondlife.com/ics/support/default.as p?deptID=441…

In a nutshell, I propose that we establish one day a year, May 18, to encouraging content creators to “Will your Work.”

The goal would be to celebrate Van’s art while at the same time encouraging people to either give copies of their work to one or more avatars (not their alts) whom they trust, or add them to their Real Life will.

Also on May 18 and for one week, and working with his beloved Native Aeon, Vanfarel Kupfer’s work will be exhibited at four locations: his former home sim, EnLuminaria, the Crescent Moon Gallery, the Blackwater Gallery, and Chakryn Forest. Understandably, Native is still very much in mourning over her loss, and when I asked her how I could help, she stated that her greatest wish is that Vanfarel’s work become known throughout the grid. So be it.

I am asking all my fellow bloggers, photographers, community leaders and more to join me in writing about and promoting May 18th – on Monday, May 18th – as Will your Work day, to generate awareness of this important objective. If you speak more than one language, please help us to get this message out to your fellow residents in their native language. Won’t you please help?

Feel free to create your own artwork. Help us to get the word out with your powerful images.

Here’s to enduring great virtual content!
Bettina

“Home is the place where it feels right to walk around without shoes” Robert Frost

Welcome to my “walkabout”, or wanderings of some of my hometown areas of North Carolina. In this exhibition I would like for you to see a glimpse of the musical talent, some historical icons, restorations, & a local vineyard. I hope you enjoy the murals, local scenery, hometown traditions & my adventures into Photoshop creativity. Each print has a weblink so you can see more insight into the subject, when available. I have set only 3 originals for sale and one copy, however, if there is one you would really like to have, please let me know and I’m sure we can arrange it. Thank you for coming to see my photography 🙂
Tips &/or RFL donations appreciated!

Chakryn Forest present: New Prim Abuses by Gore Suntzu (that’s me wohoo)

•October 23, 2008 • 1 Comment

Wow! i’m thrilled about this exibition! when Bettina TIzzy asked me to make an exibition at Chakryn Forest was a hit! and my reaction was like uhm ever saw Wayne’s World? when Wayne and Garth meet Alice Cooper? (if u dont know badbad  but u can see it here at almost at the end of the clip )

The Chakryn Forest is an amazing place and always display great art!

So i started with the idea of make a couple of new works to exibit with my older pieces but at the end got a bit carried and i made 10 new works in a week

Works are all around the forest not gonna put in here all the slurl best thing to do is tp here http://slurl.com/secondlife/Chakryn/128/128/22 and have a nice and relaxing walk in this beautiful place!

Works on display are

Neptune Petals
A pulsating deep flower from another planet, lovely but somehow dangerous…

Fall Away
When you throw a pebble in the water…

Phoenix Rising
Arises, reborn anew to live again every second…

Toxic Aurora
Nothern lights in the metaverse…

Cosmic Spider – FREEBIE!
A gift to thank you all 😉

Tornado of Souls
Many times when I’m making my abuses, the music I’m hearing makes me decide where to go. This was one of those times…

C-beams
My ideas of the C-beams glittering in the dark near the Tannhäuser gate…

E Pluribus Unum
We are all e pluribus unum…

Spiralidoso
Supercalifragilisticespiralidoso

Fluxus KInetikos
Dynamic jeweled sun

Metaverse Heartbeat (old Piece)
This is one of my older pieces that has followed me in all the exhibitions I have done.  Someone looking at it said that it seems like a strange deep sea jellyfish.  For me, it represents the power of Second Life… the endless possibilities.

So if u have time go take a look! Kaibai!
